We started during the COVID Pandemic. It was a spontaneous reading-together, that I felt compelled to do, because of the worry and unknowns we were feeling during the sudden closures of our work, businesses, stores, communities, schools, Libraries, and more. Often during unknown and stressful times, and times of deep emotions such as fear and grief, creativity can boost our spirits, heal our hearts, and give us a space to process our experiences and give them voice. And so, we read together and discussed Big Magic: Creative Living Without Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. And from here we will continue!

We have now completed Big Magic, and will be starting on our next book, Bird By Bird by popular author, Anne Lamott, at the beginning of August, 2020. This book is about writing, the writing life, and the inspired life in general. You can find this book in bookstores, Libraries, and as an audiobook or e-book version online. I already feel encouraged by Lamott’s words to all of us (and it’s also where the book title came from):

““Thirty years ago my older brother, who was ten years old at the time, was trying to get a report written on birds that he’d had three months to write, which was due the next day. We were out at our family cabin in Bolinas, and he was at the kitchen table close to tears, surrounded by binder paper and pencils and unopened books about birds, immobilized by the hugeness of the task ahead.
